A welcoming social club in the City of London with Leadenhall Market at it's heart

The City of London is divided into 25 wards, each with an elected Alderman and, on average, four elected Common Councilmen. I have been proud to represent Lime Street Ward since I was first elected in 2001.
For many years, the Ward Clubs have been the interface between the City of London Corporation and the electors. Our Ward Club covers two wards, Lime Street and Cornhill, and I am proud to have been President of the Lime Street Ward Club since 2002. Sir David Howard BT, also a former Lord Mayor, is the Vice President and the elected Alderman for Cornhill.
The Ward Club is a great supporter of the City Civic - the Corporation, the Mayoralty, the Livery Companies and all that goes with it - the Lord Mayor's Show, the Red Cross Market at Guildhall, St John Ambulance. The Ward Club is also a most enjoyable social club that holds many events - outings, dinners and activities that are not normally available to the general public.
I hope that you will find this website useful and that you will enjoy finding out more about Wards in the City of London, Ward Clubs, especially Lime Street Ward, and the functioning of our great City.
We are very proud of the City of London and of what it has achieved over centuries. As the world's prime international financial centre there is much to be proud of and uphold. We firmly believe in supporting the City of London, in both its civic and social roles, and some highly deserving charities, which are described on this site.
I hope you will return to the site often to see what it going on that might interest you.
Alderman Sir John Stuttard
It is with great sadness that we report that on 30th August past Chairman of the Ward Club, Michael Beal died suddenly at home, of a brain haemorrhage.
Michael made a great contribution to the City and the Ward Club in his career in the LME (and as pension fund trustee), as an elected member of the Court of Common Council, as Deputy for Lime Street for many years, as well as being Chairman of the Lime Street Ward Club and a Court Assistant of the Shipwrights. He was a great contributor to the LME, the Maritime Industry and Lloyd's. He was a great encourager and supporter to many of us. He will be sorely missed.
Details of the service for Michael, to be held at St Lawrence Jewry, will be issued in due course by the Corporation.
